Renew Child's New Zealand Passport You can renew a child's passport online. You must be the child’s parent or legal guardian. While applying online for renewal of your New Zealand passport you can also apply to renew your children’s passports online at the same time as you renew your own. This means you can submit and pay for the applications altogether as a family group. To renew your children’s passports you must be their parent or legal guardian. You will need to complete your adult application first, and then add the applications for your children. Only one adult can be part of the family group. Each application will be given its own reference number, which can be used to log into the group application.

Applying from overseas

Following Information is required if you are applying for reissue of your child's New Zealand passport online::

INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR REISSUE OF A CHILD’S NZ PASSPORT ONLINE:

Child’s old/previous passport details: child’s name, passport number, date of issue, who issued the passport;
digital photo – taken in the last 6 months, in colour, as a .JPG or .JPEG file;
referee details: their passport number, name, phone number and email address (optional), date of birth (Referee can be any New Zealand citizen who knows you for at least 1 year.)
credit card or debit card or prezzi card. No eftpos, Paypal, electronic bank transfer. A standard child passport costs $111;
Fee for child passport is $111.00;
Passports are normally reissued in 10 days and couriered to you;

Who can be a Referee for New Zealand Passport?

A person must satisfy following conditions to act as a referee for issue of a New Zealand passport.

A person:

who is 16 years or older
has known you for more than one year, or since birth for a child under 12 months
has a valid New Zealand passport (this can be current or expired, but not lost, stolen or damaged)
is prepared to give personal details like their name, date of birth, passport number and
is contactable

They must not be:

related to you e.g. a cousin, parent, sister or brother
your partner or spouse
part of your extended family group
living at the same address
